// How the work is organised
Work packages
SATECON delivers through four interlocking work packages: from strategy and education to technology and a lasting cross-border network.
Strategic Framework & Operational Planning
WP1 establishes the foundations of the project: a shared strategic framework, concrete operational plans, and a common Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) for introducing smart agriculture in all participating countries.
It aligns the nine partner organisations around common goals, governance and timelines, ensuring every later activity builds on a coordinated, cross-border plan.
Key output | 1.1
Developed strategic framework, operational plans and AKIS for the introduction of smart agriculture.
Organisations cooperating across borders9
Educational Curriculum Development
WP2 develops the curricula and training that turn technology into capability. Universities and agencies co-design material that equips farmers, advisors and students to understand and apply smart agriculture.
Lectures, seminars, workshops and trainings strengthen the skills of agricultural advisory services and support farmers in moving from traditional to technology-driven methods.
Focus
Curricula for smart agriculture topics
Training for advisors & extension services
Seminars & workshops for farmers
Knowledge transfer across borders
Technological Solutions for Agriculture
The technical core of SATECON. WP3 selects and integrates specific technologies into packages tailored to each area of agricultural production: sensor networks, drones, IoT devices, data analytics and software.
These packages are then demonstrated through six pilots that prove the technology in real-world farming scenarios across the three countries.
Key outputs
Jointly developed solutions integrated into packages6

Viticulture
Orcharding
Olive farming
Livestock
Greenhouses
Mariculture
Organizational Network & Capacity Building
WP4 ensures the project lasts beyond its funding. It builds a durable cross-border network of universities, ministries and agencies that continue to cooperate on smart agriculture.
By strengthening institutional capacity and shared infrastructure, it turns SATECON’s results into a lasting platform for innovation in the region.
